At Deerfield we are nestled in the Pocono Mountains surrounded by over 70,000 acres of the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area with its bountiful and beautiful Hiking trails. This affords us the opportunity to offer daily hikes to the Mountains, Rivers, Waterfalls, and spectacular cliff top vistas in the area. We provide many different hikes at all levels so there is something for everyone. Below is just a brief description of some of our favorites.
The Trails at PEEC. We are a short drive from the Pocono Environmental Education Center. This converted honeymoon resort is home to a wonderful non-profit organization dedicated to teaching us all about nature and the environment. There are 7 trails open to the public including Tumbling Waters Trail which is highlighted by the waterfalls and one the best views of the river valley. You can also find. Two Ponds Trail and Scenic Gorge Trail which are two other favorites and whose names describe them well.
McDade Trail is a 30 plus mile trail running along the Delaware River from Shawnee to Milford Pa. Sections of this trail make for some of our favorite beginner hikes.
Raymondskill Falls and the Cliff Park Trail system feature the tallest waterfalls in Pa and a web of cliff top and stream side trails you won’t soon forget.
The Appalachian Trail- On both sides of the river at Delaware Water Gap are sections of the Appalachian Trail with postcard views of the Gap and some challenging elevation changes.
Dingmans Falls is another favorite waterfall hike.
This is a sampling of some of what we do in the hiking program..See you on the trail.
Bushkill Falls, The “Niagara of Pennsylvania,” is among the Keystone State’s most famous scenic attractions. This unique series of eight waterfalls, nestled deep in the wooded Pocono Mountains, is accessible through an excellent network of hiking trails and bridges which afford fabulous views of the falls and the surrounding forest.
